"See You Over again" is a song by American rapper and singer Wiz Khalifa, featuring American vocaliser-songwriter Charlie Puth. It was commissioned for the soundtrack of the 2015 picture show Furious 7 as a tribute to thespian Paul Walker, who died in a single-vehicle accident on November xxx, 2013. Afterwards, the vocal was included equally a bonus track on the international release of Puth's debut album, 9 Track Heed. Writing and evolution [edit]
"Meet You Once again" was written by DJ Frank Eastward, Charlie Puth, Wiz Khalifa, and Andrew Cedar. It was produced by DJ Frank Eastward, Charlie Puth, and Andrew Cedar.[5] Frank E and Puth were approached by their publishing visitor, Artist Publishing Group, to develop a melody that could pay tribute to role player Paul Walker for the film Furious 7 (2015). His publishing company'south president Ben Maddahi then set up a starting time-time studio session for Puth with DJ Frank E at a studio in Los Angeles.[6]
Puth became emotionally fastened while writing the track, recalling Vail Cerullo, a friend of Puth's time at Berklee College of Music, who died in a motorcycle accident in 2012.[7] [8] He was at first reluctant that the motion-picture show'southward soundtrack label, Atlantic Records, would cull his vocal for the song. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Puth recalled, "Information technology merely seemed to occur from out of nowhere. Its climb into the acme ten was the chart'south biggest since Katy Perry's "Roar" (2013).[17] In its fifth week, "Encounter You Again" sold 464,000 copies and rose from number ten to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song marked Khalifa's second number one on the nautical chart, following "Black and Yellow" (2011), and Puth's first.[eighteen] It topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 12 not-consecutive weeks. Afterwards its 12th week it was finally knocked off the top spot by Omi'south striking, "Cheerleader". It registered one.8 million streams in the United Kingdom that week.[28] Following its digital release, the vocal climbed to number one on the chart dated April 19, 2015. Information technology sold 193,000 units that calendar week, becoming the fastest-selling unmarried in the United Kingdom of 2015. Groundwork [edit]
The "See Yous Once more" music video was the almost viewed video on YouTube from July 10 to August four, 2017,[35] [36] and the almost liked video on the site from August 27, 2016, to July 25, 2017. As of April 17, 2022, it has received over 5.iv billion views and over 37.7 million likes, making it the site's fifth most viewed and 2d most liked video.[37] [38] Information technology was the second video e'er to record two billion[39] and three billion views,[40] the third video ever to achieve four billion views[41] and the fourth video ever to attain five billion views.[42]
Synopsis [edit]
The video begins with a shot of a cliff top at sunset, followed by Khalifa walking downward a highway road. Puth is then shown singing the chorus whilst sitting at, and playing, a piano located between 2 cars. Khalifa'due south rap verses and Puth singing the 2nd chorus and bridge are interspersed with footage from Furious seven. Later on the bridge, the concluding movie scene shows Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Conner (Cody Walker, filling in for his brother, Paul) driving together, pulled over in their cars and grinning at each other i final fourth dimension before driving away on separate roads into the sunset. After the photographic camera pans up into the sky, the screen turns white, the words "For Paul" appear on screen and the video ends.

Khalifa and Puth performed "Encounter You Over again" live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March 2015 and on an episode of Saturday Dark Alive in May 2015.[45] Diesel too performed the song live as a tribute to Paul Walker during the 2015 MTV Movie Awards.[46] Khalifa and Puth reprised the song in a performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Prove in April 2015.[47] Khalifa has performed the song, without Puth, as part of the Boys of Zummer Tour, in which Khalifa co-headlined with Fall Out Boy. Puth performed the song at the Capital Jingle Bell Ball in 2015. Khalifa as well performed the vocal on flavour 8 of The Voice, with season 7 finalist Chris Jamison performing Puth's vocals. Wiz Khalifa also performed the song at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards. The intentions were for the vocal to be performed as a collaboration between Wiz Khalifa and Taeyeon, the leader of K-pop girl group Girls' Generation, but the stage was afterwards cancelled for unknown reasons.[48] Khalifa and Puth besides performed the vocal at the 2016 Kids' Selection Awards.[ commendation needed ]
On January 31, 2020, Khalifa and Puth too performed "See You Again" live during halftime of a Portland Trail Blazers-Los Angeles Lakers game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles as a tribute to Kobe Bryant, his girl Gianna and seven other victims of the Calabasas helicopter crash.[49]
